Tysons Mall: Prom, Graduation, Prom…Spanx!

The theme of our dinners has changed. We are no longer contemplating life-altering decisions, but instead are faced with a laundry list of must-do ASAP or before the Holton prom, Holton graduation, or Chris's prom. This week's dinner was less about the food (bibimbap bowl at the Mixing Bowl) and more about finding some dresses! After several hours and many stores (with many of the same dresses), we had to throw in the towel; however, we did purchase some Spanx! Holton advisors recommended the girls purchase Spanx for under their graduation dresses. There is a Spanx shop near Bloomingdale's; love it.

Easter Brunch with the Family

Buckeyes and chocolate-dipped
strawberries--embrace the Christmas tree plate!
I forgot to take pictures of the meal… but below are the desserts! Mom and Chad came over. First, Julia and Chad had to find their baskets, then we ate. Chad's basket (from Meme) was full of candy. One of Julia's baskets (from Meme) was full of candy, fruit, and gum. Her second basket was red-themed for the Ohio State University!

Pinkberry

We spent a lovely afternoon with our dear friends (and past neighbors) Miriam and Katie! They are visiting all the way from Plymouth, MA, for their spring break. Sunny and 70, it was the perfect afternoon to sit by the Potomac River and enjoy some Pinkberry frozen yogurt.

The Ohio State University Buckeyes!

OSU--is there an official buckeye recipe? We followed Paula Deen's version. This is our first batch--one of many to come, I'm sure--with a lot of room for improvement on the appearance front! Steven and Julia approved the taste. We are so excited to embrace everything OSU!

UPDATE: Found this recipe on the OSU Web site.

Cafe Divan -- Roommate Found!

Big news--Julia connected with Stephanie via OSU Facebook page and they've decided to be roommates! After all of our mocking of other people searching for roommates via social media... Julia bravely posted a blurb about herself and looking for other "green scholars" and they hit it off immediately. They have the same taste in music, engineering scholars, etc., so it seems to be a good fit.
Another yummy meal at Cafe Divan. We had the prime seat at the end of the restaurant, surrounded by windows on a spectacular sunny evening.

Vapiano and OSU!

Julia decided -- The Ohio State University! In honor of the school's colors--we chose Vapiano for dinner. It was yummy. We each got the same salad--shrimp and steak. Busy weekend with Botball and coffeehouse performance. It is a nice relief…a major weight lifted. Congratulations, Julia--especially on the academic and merit scholarships!

Recommendations: Salads, pastas, pizza… known as fast-food Italian.
