Cooking, Researching, and Broadcasting

It is only Wednesday, but so much has happened already. Julia is back in Columbus. She took back all of the dirty clothes she brought home, plus an extra warm thing or two. I mailed her another jacket.

It warms my heart to see that she is making nutritious meals for herself. Eat better, feel better! Way to go! She now has a key to the research lab, where she'll be working on some cool climate initiatives. And, we have all been waiting...Alt Expose with Ruth & Rose is back on the air this Saturday, 5 p.m.

Home Sweet Home

Julia came home for the weekend! It was so nice to catch up in person and just hang out. Friday night, we came home from the airport and had duck (from Wagshal's)--so good. Steven had chicken Italian sausage. Saturday, we spent time with Todd, Regina, Dave & Lonnie, Chad, and the Sarrges (missed Meme!). We had dinner at True Food Kitchen; love the concept, horrible service. The bison ribs were delicious and the bison rare burger had so much potential, but arrived cold. The cupcakes from Pastry Xpo were a hit with Steven. It was really hard to say good-bye to Jules. Can't wait until we meet up in Clearwater!

Bash at the Barns

Julia is enjoying her classes and time with close friends. Stephanie is still cooking for her...sweet! Julia joined the GES softball team. She enjoyed a quiet right outfield position (hee hee), but was able to make contact with the ball and make it on base. Whoo-hoo!

Whisper had her pins removed, but now she's back in a regular cast for another month or so. Steven and I attended a 50th birthday bash at the Barns (at Wolf Trap). The food was phenomenal--everything labeled nut free, gluten free, dairy free. I was in heaven. It was a fun time, great band too.

Circa, Piada, Good Stuff Eatery

A busy, fun week for Julia. She sounds so happy regarding her classes. She's working on her lab safety certification so she can start working on some climate research projects.

Stephanie has been cooking for them; and they have been eating out on occasion as well. J went to Piada with Caitlyn. She has such a sweet group of friends. I love viewing Julia's Snapchat stories--it makes me miss her less and I feel like I'm a part of her daily life. Oh for the love of technology.

Steven and I went to Circa and Good Stuff Eatery--yum and yum! The mussels at Circa were smokey and delicious (my first time trying mussels), but no where near filling. And, I enjoyed my hanger steak; however, nothing beat the very rare burger that Steven received (he insisted I eat half of it; he's the best sharer).

We would definitely go back to Good Stuff Eatery and recommend it to everyone for a great burger! I had the Spike's Sunnyside; Steven had the Big Stuff Bacon Meltdown. Great location and open, airy feeling inside.

Wagshals, Urban Scrawl, Barrel and Bushel

Julia completed her first week of school. It appears that everything is going well at OSU and at the apartment. She ate out some--Goody Boy Diner, Pappa Johns--but also made chicken stir fry and rice for her friends. Good job! Her and Stephanie went to the Urban Scrawl, a two-day festival featuring murals by 64 talented artists from central Ohio and beyond.

Here on the home front, we went to Wagshal's for the unlimited hot bar. It was so good and we had so much food. The best was the carving station of brisket. We went to Barrel and Bushel with Mom to start planning for our holiday trip in December. The grass-fed burgers were good; Steven liked the half-smoke too. I forgot to take a picture of the deviled eggs (appetizer), which he and mom both said were yummy.
