Last Week of Classes with Mulaney, St. Lucia, Crew, and Wagshal's

Fun week for Julia as classes wrapped up. The girls went and heard John Mulaney (comedian). Over the weekend they attended a St. Lucia concert. Julia and Mark went to the Columbus Crew soccer game--they won against the Houston Dynamo, 1-0. They also went to Sloopy's Diner. Caitlyn and Julia had their last radio show of the semester. It was a good one. Steven and I indulged at Wagshal's...rotisserie chicken, saddle of lamb loin, pepperoni, bacon, ham hocks, beef hot dogs, and country sausage. Deliciousness. I'm trying to gear up to cook more with Julia coming home May 5!

Special Visits with Julia, Buddy, and Family

We had a wonderful--way too quick--weekend with Julia in town. We met our new Bambino kitten, who we are tentatively naming "Buddy." Then we met up with Meme, Chad, Kevin, and the Sarrges to tour Chad's gorgeous condo and dine at Silo. The food was very good, especially the pork belly, burgers, steak, ribs, and halibut. The service was so-so, they forgot about Steven's halibut and he patiently waited while we all ate.

Julia looks great! She caught up on some sleep and we fed her (good and bad) as much as possible. I don't have pictures from breakfast, but she was a fan of my cream cheese scrambled eggs, faux (cauliflower) hashbrowns, and turkey sausage. Miss her so much, but looking forward to her return May 5.

We will pick up Buddy June 11. Until then, he is living in his cat house with two other litters, three mamma cats, and the stud dad. Jayme (breeder) has beautiful sphynx cats and Buddy's mom (sphynx) is quite small and very friendly. Jayme said that the Bambino breed is not really a separate breed, it is a sphynx cat with short legs. You can already see Buddy's belly and how the short legs cause him to waddle; he's currently six weeks old. We stayed for an hour...but could have definitely stayed longer. The cat house was comfy and therapeutic. Jayme gave us tips on introducing Buddy to Quiet...fingers crossed on that one.

Cooking and Bathing

A quick blog before Julia comes home to highlight some food activities and our kitty's first bath. He's five weeks old. Julia made some perogies and veggies, went to Chop Shop and Buckeye Donuts (not a bad looking salad for a 24-hour donut shop!). I went to trivia night with the gang from the IMF at the Black Rooster. Since receiving my MRT results, food is no longer fun...but I'm hoping it will get better.

Buckeye Blackout

Julia had a busy week, followed by the awesome Buckeye Blackout concert. All of her friends came to show their support and it was a hit overall. Kudos on Julia's nutritious dinner efforts; love getting the pics as proof, see below. And, although the weather has been unseasonably cold, spring is on its way--just in time for her to come home for the weekend! Counting down the days. We have a fun time planned with a visit to see our new kitty and time with Meme, Chad, and the Sarrges. Check out the latest video sent by Jayme, our breeder-new-best-friend.

Soccer, Spider, and Stitch

This week, Julia played her last Green Engineering Scholars (GES) soccer game. She also had the opportunity to be inspired by Megan Rapinoe (professional soccer player) and Abby Wambach (retired soccer player and born in Rochester, NY!!). Busy social week...she went to the Wild Child concert and Caitlyn and Sarah celebrated their birthdays. Julia "demolished" (that's a good thing) her Spanish quiz this week. She is definitely her mother's daughter, rewarding herself with a yummilicious dunkaccino. Steven and I went to CAVA (again, yes, and we could go there every night if it was walkable). Actually, they just opened a new CAVA at 18th and Connecticut Avenue; that is definitely doable on my route home from work.

We found out from our breeder, Brandi, that our little girl Bambino was bit twice by a spider Friday night. She died within hours of getting to the veterinary hospital. Poor little girl. The breeder was a wreck; and we were sad too. Thankfully, everything fell into place over the weekend when we found Stitch, a hairless platinum Bambino that will be available in June. He was born March 7, 2016. The new breeder, Jayme, seems very nice. A special thank you to Teidi and Brenda who served as references for us--and yes, Jayme really contacted them within minutes of receiving our application. We cannot wait to meet him (taking name suggestions); we are hoping to visit him when Julia comes home in a couple of weeks.
