Memorial Day Weekend

Julia received her first paycheck from Management Concepts. They had another busy week of BBQs and birthday celebrations. While the job is a bit dry for her liking, the people are very nice and she gets to spend time with her dad. Kudos to her, she's been running on the treadmill or outside every day. She went out with Jessie a couple of times--once running, and once to Pie Sisters! John Robert is working there this summer; the jumble berry pie with ice cream was delicious. Julia went to Guapos with Susannah and Cecily; she enjoyed the steak fiesta salad.

The Rolling Thunder "Ride for Freedom" was Sunday. There were thousands of bikes swarming every where this past weekend.

I made my first pork belly in the oven. Julia and I enjoyed it, Steven isn't a fan of the fat like we are. It might be my absolute favorite food.

Quiet is getting more vocal and clingy every day. He has no idea the bundle of joy that is about to come his way. Tentatively calling him, Peanut Butter Simpson.

Birthday Bash and New Hairdo

We celebrated Chad's 43rd birthday this past Thursday, May 19, with Chad, Nick, Mom, John & Maureen, Sarrges, and Simpsons. Before the delicious meal, Julia had her hair done at Bubbles Tysons. It looks great. Despite the rain, we trekked to Dr. Martens in Georgetown for Julia to get some new shoes. The dragon boat races were this weekend as well (bummer weather). Julia reconnected with Jessie at Heritage India, great neighborhood Indian fare. Saturday night was take-out from Whole Foods...sushi, rotisserie Peruvian chicken, and gelato. Sunday was the routine run to Wagshal's. To round out a wonderful weekend, I brought three bags to the Planet Aid box at Stoddert. Marie Kondo would approve.

Working Girl Rocks Her First Week

While we had major plans for making and bringing lunches to work everyday...it just didn't happen. Julia's new boss took her to Anita's, Steven took her to Roll Play Vietnamese Grill  and Cava, the accounting department had a birthday celebration at Cheesecake Factory...then there was Dunkin donut day and an afternoon contract win company-wide party.

Julia met up with John Robert for the EU Open House at the German Embassy. Yummy bratwurst.

Her knee has been bothering her--thus the knee band over her stockings at work--but hopefully she'll be OK. It has been wonderful to have her home. By the time I get home, she has worked out, fed the cat, and started dinner. Sweet!

Birthday Boy and Mother's Day Weekend

Julia is home! Although DC Metro made it a bit challenging last Thursday (shut down due to debris fire), she was able to arrive safely and meet me at Foggy Bottom. While I was waiting, I ran into Dr. Watson (we love Dr. Watson!)--best piano teacher ever.

We had the pleasure of celebrating Ethan's 14th birthday Saturday night with the Sarrges, Kevin, Mom, Chad, Maureen & John, and the Westfalls. Julia had fun reconnecting with her cousins. The steak was so good. Julia and Steven really enjoyed the cake as well (they are so deprived!).

On Sunday, I spent most of the day studying--except for a much-needed pedicure with Jules and a dinner and meat haul from Wagshal's. Jayme, the breeder, sent a cute message from our kitty. I am grateful for our family and thankful for my mother who loves her children beyond measure and a daughter who is beautiful inside and out.

Wagshal's delivers with the best rotisserie chicken, salami, bacon, roast, ground sirloin, goat cheese, pesto, italian sausage, beef hot dogs...

Eyes closed and totally relaxing

Concluding with Buckeye Donuts, Sloopy's, Noodles, and Homemade Meals

Julia is done with her sophomore year! Her last final was today. She wrapped up the week with indulgences from Buckeye Donuts (cronut), Sloopy's, Jeni's, along with the Noodles and Company staple. Kudos to Jules on all of the home-cooked meals. Cute pics of Mark, who we hope to meet sometime this summer. And, can't wait to JR on Thursday!
