New Orleans for Spring Break

The girls saw the hot spots of New Orleans, including the French Quarter, National World War II Museum, the shrine and cemetery of Saint Roch's, the St. Roch Market, and more. They enjoyed some good eats as well. We're so glad she had a good (and safe) time with her friends, but we sure did miss seeing her in Washington.

Nashville Fun with Jeni's

The girls left Monday morning and headed to Nashville. Great city for live music and ribs! Matt's parents kindly hosted them for the night both on the way down to New Orleans and on the way back. They enjoyed the sights, BBQ, and even found and indulged in Jeni's

Chop Shop, Brio, Cava, Dupont Farmers Market

Columbus and Washington enjoyed warm, summer-like temperatures this past week. Julia was busy wrapping school work up before spring break. She had dinner with Matt at the Chop Shop--awesome, gourmet burgers right near her apartment. Sarah and her mom took Julia to Brio Tuscan Grille over the weekend. Here in DC, we enjoyed dinner at Cava and bought a ton of meat at the Dupont Farmers Market--rabbit, water buffalo liver, pork short ribs, buffalo sausage, pork steak, and pork belly--along with jam, knuckle bones, and sauerkraut. It is hard not to go crazy, when the local farmers are providing pasture-raised, grass-fed, organic products. Julia is off to Nashville, then New Orleans for spring break. We miss her!

Penn State Visitor and First Bath

Julia attended the 20th Annual Severe Weather Symposium this past week. Chris came to see her over the weekend for the start of his spring break. She enjoyed catching up with him and took him to all the nice places: Noodles & Co., Condado, and Buffalo Wild Wings. He witnessed her radio show first hand and spent time with her wonderful friends. Julia purchased a new queen-sized bed and is enjoying the roominess of it.

Our kitty had her first bath. And, apparently, the breeder's newest litter loves to snuggle with her. The picture below shows her after she emerged from the bottom of the kitten pile. We are all looking forward to picking her up...well, everyone except maybe Quiet. Still haven't finalized her name.

Concerts, Cava, Kitty

Missing this beauty! Julia is having a great semester. She went to Patrick's gig, as well as Dark Star Orchestra. Sarah and Julia met the rugby team and chatted with the coach. Maybe a new sport to try next year? They are thinking about it.

Steven and I visited CAVA...a new favorite, love the lamb. I forgive them for messing up my order last week. We've decided on our next new addition to the Simpson tribe: a Bambino girl kitty. We are still working on a name; suggestions are welcome.
