Cooking Up a Storm

Recent homemade highlights include chili and baked chicken with mashed potatoes and asparagus. She also had some of the usual yumminess from The Chop Shop with their amazing lettuce-wrapped, grass-fed burgers. In the German Village section of town, she went to First Watch..."a cafe chain for the health-minded." Great! Matt and Julia went to see the band, Chvrches, and ran into Patrick. At the USG retreat, Julia found out she was on the Sustainability Committee, which was her first choice. And even though she is super busy with homework and exams, she organized her closet--heartwarming picture below. We're all counting down the days until she comes home October 13.

Birthday Bash in NYC

We celebrated mom's 75th birthday in New York City. It started with the tribe reuniting at a Korean BBQ restaurant...so good. The portions were ginormous. Julia took breath-taking photographs on her way into the city. Then we headed to see Waitress. The musical was amazing--very entertaining with great music too.

Saturday, Julia met Chris for breakfast. We all convened for lunch at Chelsea Market then headed to, School of Rock. Everyone enjoyed it; fun for the whole family. Saturday night, we enjoyed a private dining room at the Cornell Club to celebrate mom. We love you, Mom! It was so nice to spend time together (missed Emmie!). It was Laura's actual birthday--so it was a treat to spend the day with her as well. The food was really good (forgot some pictures!).

I took a picture of Iron Bar. It is officially an OSU bar; Steven and I watched a game there two years ago. I took a few pictures of NYC--my favorite part was running in Central Park. Check out my Falling in Love with Central Park post.

Making Her Mark, KONG, and Nats

Julia is now a member of OSU's Undergraduate Student Government. It was an exciting, short week for all of us anticipating our family trip to NYC in celebration of Meme's 75th birthday. Julia and Sarah made banana bread. We bought the kitties a KONG, making them work for their food (and stop begging all the time!). Quiet figured it out pretty quick; he tips it over and food spills out. Peanut Butter is clueless and just zooms in to steal the food. Check out his new shirt; so darn cute. A couple of the pics are enroute to NYC: food at Johnny Rockets, Julia's cab ride through Queens, and Steven and me in the car with his bike, of course.

Good Food, Friends, and Football

Julia has been at school just over two weeks. I'm highlighting some of the old favorite eateries, along with some good homemade meals thrown in. You can't go wrong with Chop Shop, Raising Cane's, and Chipotle. I also sent her a care package of somewhat healthy snacks from Boxed; her schedule is brutal with several back-to-back classes, so I wanted to make sure she has some snacks for her backpack. (Yes, I know she is 20 but I can't help it.) They went to (some of) a Ke$ha concert. Coming in two weeks, Alt Expose with Ruth and Rose will return Sundays, 3 - 4pm. Stay tuned. Congratulations OSU football; Bowling Green versus OSU, 10 to 77! Julia is considering joining OSU student government...more on that next week.

Steven and I went to Wagshal's for yummy pepperoni, liverworst, and hotdogs. Thanks for the sweater, mom! Can't wait to see Julia in FOUR days!
