University of Leeds Declared

Exciting week, as Julia pulled the trigger for the University of Leeds masters in research program starting fall 2018. YAY! This week she was back into the grind of school after spring break. Her climate class went to Pickerington, OH, to do some climate and sediment work. Why are we still dealing with unbelievably cold, winter weather? Wednesday, the DC area had four inches and a full, snow day. Julia went with Matt and the boys to the Hollywood Casino. Big money lost for the boys, $20 for Jules. Good eats at the regular spots...Yellow Brick Pizza and Blue Danube.

More San Diego Sunshine

More pictures from Julia's wonderful vacation in San Diego, including the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, In-n-Out Burger, Red Mango, and the San Diego Public Library (between VRBO check-out and airport check-in :). A shocking surprise treat on the plane ride home--an authentic stroopwaffle!

Home Sick, Not Homesick

A couple of pictures from cool dates that Julia and Benjamin had before/after the weekend, Mikey's Late Night Slice event, painting, Drunch. Julia made her way home after the windstorm delayed her by a day (check out the status from pilots flying into IAD last Friday when her flight was canceled). We had a lovely dinner at Seasons 52 with Mom, Lisa, and Kathryn, but Julia was pretty sick by then. Sunday was spent on the couch with fever, chills, aches, coughing, etc. We started an awesome new puzzle, but completion will have to wait until she comes home for the summer. Although we debated about delaying her return to Columbus, she felt well enough to travel on Monday and went straight to urgent care to be seen. Julia tested negative for strep and flu, deemed a nasty virus. Benjamin pulled through with tons of extra brownie points (thank you!) by picking her up from the airport with flowers, a ton of "get better soon" treats, and taking her to the doctor's (and staying). So sweet of him to take care of her. Hopefully, Julia will be all better before heading to San Diego on Friday for spring break with the Holton crew. Love her tons and miss her terribly already!
