Happy Halloween with Salt

Julia attended a few Halloween parties this past weekend as a salt shaker... adorable! We love our salt! OSU beat Penn State and the crew went apple picking. In addition to their homemade chili, the girls also make a mean apple crisp.

There are a few science-related pics and some from Steven's Halloween work party (he was a judge).

Research Job that Pays!

Congratulations to Julia! She applied, interviewed, and scored another research job--and this one pays! It will give her more experience, a good plug for the resume, and hopefully a publishing opportunity.

After a busy fall break, she hit the ground running Monday morning and managed to--despite jetlag--ace her dynamics midterm. Way to go! Check Jules out in her Bambino shirt. <3

Steven and I went to Wagshal's after church for a major meat haul. Pam was there; she always gives good recommendations and suggestions on how to prepare it. I love that place.

You can tell fall has officially arrived; the cat's heat lamp is out and they are loving it.

University of Copenhagen

Fall break, part II, was a jaunt over to Copenhagen to check out the University of Copenhagen. We visited the buildings where Julia would be studying and saw as many of the top tourist sites as we had time for and could find. Great city vibe and would definitely like to go back. We stayed right across from Tivoli Gardens and arrived in time to catch Culture Night.

University of Leeds

We had a whirlwind trip for Julia's fall break this year. Steven and Julia met me in Leeds--they went via Dublin, I went via London--to check out the University of Leeds. Julia had the opportunity to talk with the head of the climate program and we had an informative campus tour from Nora, a current international graduate student. So glad we made the effort to check it out in person; it really gave Julia a sense of the city, the program, and student life. We enjoyed a particularly delicious meal at Friends of Ham. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality, Leeds.
