University of Leeds

We had a whirlwind trip for Julia's fall break this year. Steven and Julia met me in Leeds--they went via Dublin, I went via London--to check out the University of Leeds. Julia had the opportunity to talk with the head of the climate program and we had an informative campus tour from Nora, a current international graduate student. So glad we made the effort to check it out in person; it really gave Julia a sense of the city, the program, and student life. We enjoyed a particularly delicious meal at Friends of Ham. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality, Leeds.

Fall Break in DC

Julia was home for a very short fall break. Tribe reunited...and it was wonderful. The time went way too fast. Thursday we just chillaxed with the kitties and Georgetown Cupcake's Trick or Treat dozen. Friday, Julia went to the Management Concepts picnic. Check out their new welcome video; Steven's avatar is particularly funny in the beginning as the drummer. I had class, but Steven and Julia enjoyed dinner at Circa, then a tour of GW's graduate school in geography. Saturday, mom treated Julia, Lisa, Chad, and me to "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," at the Kennedy Center. It was excellent--highly recommend! And then, before you know it, Julia was back in Columbus and on the air, Alt Expose with Ruth and Rose on Arouse OSU Radio.

Clearwater Beach

Yay, for OSU fall break! It was wonderful to spend time with Julia. That girl…just love her to pieces. We would highly recommend the Sandpearl Resort--great service, amenities, and food. Outside of the resort, the food was hit or miss; although they all had fantastic live music each night. Steven enjoyed some local grouper and we had some delicious mussels. Steven rented a bike and rode everyday; Julia joined him one day. I ran across the causeway for my morning decaf. The sand was white, soft, and stayed cool. The weather was a perfect, mid-80s every day. It was a great getaway.
