Camping and Birthdays

Julia gave a lecture (with an honorarium!) to students at the University of Puget Sound. She and Benjamin went camping, fishing, and watched the OSU game to victory! You can just make out Julia's face in their sleeper van (Tom-Tom).

In Florida and on the home front, we celebrated Mom's 85th birthday. We went to the CAPS pre-season game, where they won 3-2 over the Boston Bruins. On Saturday, we went dress shopping, Mom enjoyed a massage at the Ritz-Carlton, and we had a dinner celebration. It was so nice to all be together.

Camping Excursion

Julia and Benjamin got away for a quick camping trip to the Pecos Complex Wildlife Area in New Mexico, which encompasses almost 2,000 acres. They drove through a cute town called Madrid. Fish were caught, but not eaten during this adventure. :)

Heat Wave

Julia went camping with Hannah and Sam over the weekend. Just like DC, it was HOT. Julia's apartment hit nearly 90 degrees; she had to sleep with ice packs in her bed. :) She also went to a jazz jam with Jerry and friends. 

We met at Kazan's for Juneteenth Day. It's always nice to see family, and the Turkish meals were delightful.

 

Research Completed and Bronze Medal

Research has wrapped up, and Julia is safely off Mount Waddington. Below is a last shot on the mountain, then the big hair reveal when back at the ranch. Three weeks without a proper shower... not bad! :) The last picture is with her colleagues, all shiny and clean. Only back one day in Minnesota, and this girl is back out there working for the environment--a clean-up of the Mississippi River event. She lives her passion. 

Guess who won the bronze medal for the 2023 National Senior Games--Meme's basketball team! Congratulations! Amazing! She went to New Hampshire from Pittsburgh to visit Julie and her family (pictured with David). 

Time with Family and Friends

Benjamin was back from Alaska for the week. They went camping near Duluth with Lia and Mike--hardcore roughing it. They had good weather and a good time. While Tony was at the lake with Ethan and his friends, Lisa, Kathryn, and Mom came over. The cats benefited the most from Kathryn's dedicated playtime. Check out Mom's basketball uniform! Senior Citizen Olympics--here she comes! Julia captured Booberry hogging the FaceTime screen. She misses Julia and is so confused when she hears her voice but can't find her. :)
