Visit to See Benjamin

Julia went to visit Benjamin! They spent the weekend in Destin, Florida, and are now in Enterprise, Alabama. Julia is focused on her dissertation, and Benjamin is studying and flying--both busy but together! Check out the bacon-wrapped scallops.

Remembering Chad 2025

This past weekend, we came together to honor and remember Chad. The pain of missing him still cuts so deep. Thankful to be around others who also loved him and miss him dearly. 

 

Wedding and Celebrating Ethan

Julia drove a few of her friends from St. Paul, MN, to Columbus, OH, for a wedding reception (guests weren't invited to the Friday night ceremony). It was a very long drive in comparison to the very little time spent celebrating (and too busy or maybe too tired to take pictures). 

We joined the Sarrges to celebrate Ethan's graduation from UC Boulder! It was so much fun. Way to go, Ethan! We were able to see Boulder, the campus, Ethan's apartment, Elizabeth's apartment, Denver, and the Flatirons. It was awesome. 

Mother's Day was a low-key recuperation from the trip. 

Job Accepted!

Julia has accepted a postdoc appointment from the University of Alaska! She is super excited and will start immediately following her defense on August 1. There's some flexibility (on-site/remote), but she'll definitely be spending some time in Fairbanks. The pics below are when she was in Alaska.

Julia recently attended her friend Alejandro's doctoral defense and celebrated with her friends. She went to the May Day parade with Matt, Wes, and Anne. Check out the bee picture from her walk around her neighborhood. 

In DC, we went to the Flower Mart at the National Cathedral. My neighbor asked me what I got... umm... pretty flowers with different colors. :) No idea. I hope they survive through the summer. 

Job Offer!

Julia started sending out her resume and secured two interviews last week. One of the jobs contacted her with an offer, but she's holding out to see what happens with the second option. Meanwhile, she is plugging away and preparing for her PhD defense on July 31. Benjamin sent her flowers and pictures of a shark that he and his friends caught (and released) while on a boat trip. Wow. 

Julia also went bowling with Sam and Hannah and to the Minnesota Frost game (women's hockey) with Anne and Matt. 

Happy Easter

Julia and Ally were tagged in a post from the Lobster Garden Vintage store, thrifting in action. Julia spent Easter with friends. Chase and Sarah made a delicious prime rib roast—yum! She attended a screening of Breath of the Earth: A Story from Treasure Island. 

In the DMV, we had a delicious Easter meal at the Sarrges—ham, rack of lamb, fancy potatoes, biscuits, vegetables, and more. It was nice to see Ethan and Kathryn home for the occasion. Thanks, Mom, for the exercise clothes. They fit nicely, and I changed into them immediately when I got home.
