Christmas and On the Ship

Julia is on the South Korean ship! You can track the boat here (https://live.kopri.re.kr/araon/). She is sharing a room with 3 other girls. Below is a picture of the boat, a view from her room, a picture of the library (all books in Korean--haha), and a Christmas tree in Christchurch. We are so thankful for technology; staying in contact with her daily has been reassuring.

Check out Mom with her pickleball friends. We had the gingerbread decorating party, Christmas Eve dinner at Fogo de Chao, a visit to the Capitol Christmas tree, and Christmas at the Sarrges. We miss Chad. Thankfully, we have each other.

Launching into 2021

Ringing in the new year was low-key, with champaign/Bai and a charcuterie board. We've tried to squeeze in some favorites before Julia leaves, such as Compass cold brew coffees, Rocklands, puzzles, and just hanging out time. Wednesday, January 6, thousands of President Trump's supporters were in DC to protest the outcome of the 2020 election. Hundreds stormed the US Capitol as Congress met to certify electoral college votes for President-elect Biden. It was shocking and sad to watch this behavior. As if there isn't enough going on in the world right now...

Holiday Family Fun

We enjoyed a wonderful holiday season this year. The annual gingerbread decorating party was a smashing success with new heights of creativity reached by Ethan and Chad. Julia had a few sick days with Peanut Butter by her side. We all went to see the National Capitol Tree, which was gorgeous with very few admirers. I'm not sure what was Julia's favorite Christmas gift this year (maybe the cash or massive credit to her Uber account--both from Steven?), but I enjoyed shopping for Gilmore Girls stuff and the look on her face when she opened the salt collection was priceless. We are so blessed.

Christmas Eve Dinner

Julia has been home since December 16 and we have been busy! For Christmas Eve, we went to church, McCormick and Schmick's, and then a stop at the Capitol Christmas tree. I didn't take pictures of everyone's plate; there were some duplicate entrees. The food was delicious. Julia tried oysters for the first time and wasn't a huge fan.
