First Week as an OSU Senior and Family

Julia is in full swing as she embarks on her last year at The Ohio State University. She has worked hard and crafted many valuable experiences and connections. Her first week was filled with a Columbus Crew soccer game, a welcome back homemade dinner with friends, and many meals at various eateries around town. I'm sure the local restaurants are happy to have the students back. We had a delicious dinner at the Sarrges. Tony is recovering nicely and Jade continues to be adorable.

Fun Not to be Eclipsed

The eclipse was amazing. Washington, DC, witnessed a partial eclipse at 81% and it was incredible. Julia had fun with friends. I--and many other curious staffers--went to the rooftop to view from 2:15 - 2:45. It was forecast to peak at 2:42 pm. Magda, Kyoung, and I relied on the kindness of strangers to share their glasses and take turns. Steven also shared the experience with colleagues, but no glasses. I hope his eyes survived. The pictures, which do not adequately capture the phenomenal event, were all taken with an iPhone, some through the special glasses, some not.

OSU or Bust thru Nashville

Julia left Washington on Tuesday and spent the rest of the week with Matt in Nashville. They went to a concert, experienced the Nashville nightlife, and enjoyed some good eats.

Hello Jade, Goodbye Julia

Welcome puppy Jade to the Sarrge family. She is a beautiful, Vizsla. It was nice we were able to meet her and visit with Tony, who is recovering nicely after ankle surgery. We had one last round of Persian cuisine at Alborz. The lamb was delicious; Steven and Julia enjoyed steak. Julia and I took two huge bags to Buffalo Exchange; then, Julia took the two huge bags to the donation bin. Ha ha. It is hard to believe the summer is over...and Julia is back in Columbus.

Wrapping Up with NCRC

Julia had a wonderful experience with the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC). Her last week, they took her to the Hamilton for lunch. It was nice to see her passionate about going to work and learning more about economic development in underserved communities, big data, and geographic information systems. She met some wonderful staff, as well as fellow interns. Thank you, NCRC!

Birthday with Family

One last hurrah party to celebrate Julia's 21st birthday! Thank you, Wagshal's, for the delicious sirloin tip roast. It was a special treat to have Miriam and Katie in town for the event. We missed Tony (and Lisa); praying for a speedy recovery!
