First Distinction, Benjamin, and Portland

Congratulations to Julia for receiving a first distinction (UK-speak for highest honors) on her atmospheric climate research dissertation! This reflects her hard work and dedication over the past year and we are so proud of her. Kudos, Jules! We knew you could and would do it.

Benjamin came to DC and they went to Boston via train, then Portland, ME, with Lia and Mike. Although Mom went to NY for Uncle Joey's service, the family still enjoyed a delicious brunch at the Sarrge's. We also finished the puzzle, ate a lot of meat, and enjoyed hanging out.

Resettling in the Hood and Certification

Julia is back and has hit the ground running! She was completely unpacked within 24 hours of being home--impressive! Jessie was in the hood for the weekend and they went to the Washington Spirit game and spent time in cafes catching up and researching Ph.D.options. We LOVE having Jules home--working on the puzzle, chatting, holding Quiet, eating Wingo's, watching TV...all good.

On Sunday, we picked up Meme to go see Ethan in action at Elevation Burger. The organic, 100% grass-fed burgers (with fried eggs) were delicious!

On Saturday, I took and passed the exam for Certified Ketogenic Nutrition Specialist. I enjoyed the content and it gave me a boatload of CME credits. :)

Labor Day and Laboring

Julia is in the UK, laboring (or for the Brits, labouring) away on her final presentation. It is nice to see her still cooking beef and broccoli for herself.

I had a pre-weekend visit with the cutest one-year-old doll I know, Miss Amali. She's such a joy to be around.

We went to Deep Creek Lake with the Sarrges and Westfalls. Great food and good times--it was nice to hang out and catch up. We had some firsts with the deep fryer--double chickens, eggs, and double-stuff Oreos. Yummy! Julia called via FaceTime and got to see everyone--one more week until she's home!
