Heat Wave in Leeds

Julia enjoyed some warmer days in Leeds--50s and 60s! She's busy cranking away on her papers--and looking super cute while doing it!

Here in the hood it was quiet. Steven worked all weekend on his last final exam for Nottingham. We are all looking forward to getting away to Stockholm!

Fun Visits Here and Abroad

Benjamin sent flowers for Valentine's Day and then showed up the next day for a quick two-day visit. How sweet! They enjoyed BBQ at Red's True Barbecue, with a few sides. Julia is cranking on projects with upcoming deadlines. I'm so glad she has a great support system at Leeds, via Benjamin, and family too.

Laura came to DC for President's Day weekend; it was nice to reconnect and spend time together. Mom and Laura made a yummy lamb roast. At our house, they indulged in some chicken feet and roasted chicken. Mom treated us to the musical, Three Sistahs. It was great--three, super-talented women carried the whole show. A real treat!

Chinese New Year in Leeds

Julia celebrated Chinese New Year with her flatmates and then with her American group. She's busy working on papers, with deadlines at the end of the month. See the picture below of her new friend at the cafe, the resident dog.

Here at home we are chugging along, Steven is working on wrapping up his two classes at Nottingham. I attended a Prevent Cancer session at the World Bank and read, Spark Joy. This led to more tidying up, of course.

Liverpool, Chicken Feet, and Roast

Julia went to Liverpool with her friends this past weekend--fun! She really enjoyed The Beatles Story museum. They also made dumplings. Julia made a super nutritious mackerel, mushroom, and green peppers dish. I know she is very busy with course work and it's tough to plan, shop, and make meals--proud of her efforts! She went to a sports bar to watch the super bowl; they stayed up until the end, not getting to bed until 4 am. Yikes! Thus, the double tea mugs on Monday. :)

Here in the 'hood, I made roasted chicken feet and yummy bone broth. My mom had them as a child; she tried them and liked them--yay! Mom and Miriam came over for dinner and we had an eye round roast. While a bit too lean for me, everyone else enjoyed it and it was nice to catch up. The cats enjoyed the extra attention.
