Mount Waddington Wow

After a long road trip to Seattle, they continued up through British Columbia to Mount Waddington. The last piece of the journey was via helicopter where they set up camp at 10,000 feet. It looks as dangerous as she described it--yikes! Thankfully, they were able to conduct the research and survive between avalanches and wind storms. The pictures are amazing. Julia really enjoyed the opportunity. They have a follow up trip scheduled for next summer.

East and West Coasts of the US

Julia has made her way to Seattle with her advisor (~25-hour drive!!) and will head to Canada tomorrow for her fieldwork. She connected with Vy (Leeds University buddy) and John Morgan (friend from OSU).

Mom went to Brooklyn, NY, and Shelter Island with the Hine crew--looking good!

Steven and I went to downtown Wilmington, NC, and then Wrightsville Beach. We settled in Charleston, SC, for the remainder of our getaway and fell in love. It has been probably over 15 years since we were there. It is like a hot version of Georgetown and has a plethora of charm, culture, and a great nearby beach (Folly Beach!).

July 4 Plus More

Julia spent the 4th with friends in St. Paul. They had pleasant weather. She got out her skates, went to the parade, and attended a BBQ. There's a picture below of Senator John Marty. Since her fieldwork in Canada was delayed (leaving July 15), Benjamin came to St. Paul to keep her company. Below, Benjamin is making cowboy caviar. It has been over a year since we have seen him. The rest of the family was spread across the East Coast over the 4th. We spent time with Aaron and Miriam. She has applied to 25 medical schools (fingers crossed for the ones near us:)!
