Summer Wrap-Up

Julia and Benjamin went to Traverse City for a week; some of Julia's Holton friends joined as well. The Saunders were so sweet to host them. Mom went to New York to celebrate Sam and Nick's 30th birthday!

Quarry and Condo

St. Paul has had some nice weather. Julia, Benjamin, and their friends went to a quarry to swim. Beautiful.

We continue to remember Chad every day and in our own ways. Julia painted a pot to honor him. Mom, Tony, Lisa, Steven, and I went to his condo this weekend to remove some items and re-assess before our scheduled September sorting. I think Chad would agree with our decisions and be proud of how we are working through this. It is so hard.

On a lighter note, I had to get a kittie sling because Booberry demands a lot of attention when I'm in my office at my stand-up desk. This will keep her below my video camera during meetings.

Hellos and Goodbyes

Julia went to New Hampshire and spent time with Emma, Grandma Gert, Peggy, Pete, and Irina. Emma traveled with her to/from DC, which was extra lovely. Meanwhile, Brenda came down, and we spent the day with Miriam and Katie. Just like old times...hanging out in the hood and supporting local faves like Call Your Mother and Rocklands. Julia came back late Monday night and left this morning for St. Paul. Quiet gave her some love before she left. We miss her already!

Celebrations and Remembrances

Before Benjamin had to leave for work, we squeezed in the Barbie movie--highly recommend it! Then, we were off to Deep Creek Lake. We celebrated our birthdays, deep-fried turkey style. Julia particularly appreciated the "flat cat" she received as a substitute for the real-deal cat that she would love to have. She thoroughly enjoyed wake surfing with her cousins (thanks, Tony!) and getting some cousin hand-me-downs (thanks, Sam!). It was nice to shop together on Saturday, making the rounds at Walmart, the Farmer's Market, and the butcher--what more could you ask for??? Thanks, Sarrges--best hosts as usual!

Saturday evening we spread Chad's ashes over Deep Creek Lake in front of Wisp Mountain. It was incredibly hard, sad, and emotionally draining. We miss him so much.
