The best part about a weekend getaway is spending time with Julia! There were some unapproved indulgences, but I cannot deny the dad-daughter bond over junk food. Plus, they put up with my love for Walmart and Target--must be super centers! We enjoyed walking on the beach and checking out the area. We binge-watched season 2 of Space Force. Hilarious!
We arrived back home and had a quick visit with Elizabeth and Jack. So sweet!
Yay, we finally saw Mom! We were able to deliver her presents from the Saunders and catch up in person. Steven gave her a long list of "must-see TV" to keep her going until the next time we meet. Julia is still managing in the frigid weather of St. Paul. And new in the neighborhood, Whole Foods has opened for prime members only; the official launch is coming next week. Their new Just Walk Out technology takes some getting used to--but regardless, the space is awesome!
It felt good to get back in the saddle of airplane travel, but even better to visit JULIA! That girl is making the best of it in really cold weather. Our first morning of ice skating started at -5 degrees F. We skated at Langford Park and Lake of the Isles. The rinks were huge and only busy later in the day. We visited the Winter Carnival and "The Market" at Malcolm Yards, where Julia and Steven got ice cream from Bebe Zito's (featured on Food Network). She drove us around in the Buick, and we felt right at home in her adorable apartment. Saying goodbye was hard, but looking forward to our next warmer encounter in a few weeks.
