Spring Break Mystery Meats

Julia's dorm has evolved into a wonderful, comfy home-away-from-home. I love her poster decorations and stringed lights. We were able to meet the famous "Rose" of Alt Expose; Caitlyn is as adorable in person as she is on the show.
Tribe reunited--so happy!
First night home, we went to the Westminster parent play; Tony was very entertaining. It is his fourth year performing and he is a natural. Julia met up with Cecily afterward at the house; she looks great and is doing well. Then they went to Surfside for seared tuna (yum!). Sunday was the beginning of the meat fest--and this was before we knew she was anemic! Washal's did not disappoint...rotisserie chicken, leg of lamb, beef tongue, pork salami, London broil, Amish bacon, spicy lamb sausage, roast beef, spicy pork sausage, goat cheese, and the piece de resistance--the Berliner!

While home, Julia was also able to see Suzannah, John Robert (Holy Trinity), and Clay (fellow Buckeye who also lives in the District!). The time went by way too quickly and it was hard to let her go when she is not feeling 100%. Love her so much!
Took some coaxing...not a fan of beef tongue.
Pure joy with the very first bite of Berliner.
Rotisserie chicken, so juicy.
Smoked oysters--she liked them (next time on salad).
London broil--iron, zinc, B vitamins!
Very few of us can turn breakfast into a lovely salad. The Amish bacon is so good!
Georgetown Cupcakes!

Lamb with Meme

Lamb night with Meme. It was so good to have Julia home and to have Meme over to witness Julia's first taste of leg of lamb and lamb sausage. Truth be told, they both liked the leg of lamb, not so much the spicy lamb sausage--too spicy. Julia's expression says it all, Happy to be home, but exhausted. Steven made an appointment with Dr. Macedo for her (thankfully);she's severely anemic, which is contributing to the migraines. The college diet is not doing her health any favors. Now, she has some iron pills and options to treat her migraines. So hard to say goodbye when she's unwell.

Migraine, Midterm, and Meat

Julia had a painful week--literally. She was plagued by a terrible migraine and couldn't be seen quick enough at Health Services (caffeine and ibuprofen took the edge off in time for a midterm exam). She's also been having some stress headaches here and there. We can't wait to get her home and to an appointment with Dr. Macedo (the best!) at Washington Medical Group. Don't worry, the pain didn't stop her from having fun this week.
On Friday, Julia went to the Magic Man concert. And, I'm sure you tuned in for the "Alt Expose with Ruth and Rose" show on Saturday, 5 p.m. It was followed by the big, Black Out concert at the Union. Julia was part of the entertainment on the stage between band sets.
Our Wagshal's hauls are getting bigger...cannot help the meat addiction. It is so good. The problem is that in our effort to try new things, we like them so much that they get added to the permanent weekly list. For example, the spicy lamb sausage is now a must-have. The prime roast beef, we cannot live without. Their Amish bacon, rotisserie chicken, and pears...yummy. New this week--Kosher salami, German liverwurst, and London broil. It is too hard to pick a favorite, but so appreciative of having a quality butcher and delicatessen in our neighborhood.

On extra cold days, this is where Quiet parked himself.

Skiing, Wagshals, and Ice Storm

Mad River Mountain
Julia went skiing at Mad River Mountain with her pals from LARH. It was a steal, deal for $5, including rentals! She had a great time.

We enjoyed another week of "Alt Expose with Ruth and Rose," at arouseOSU.com.

We are scaring Julia with our weekly meat hauls at Wagshal's. Ground venison, leg of lamb, lamb sausage, beef tongue, bison, turkey pastrami, roast beef, salmon bacon, and so much more to explore! We haven't tried duck yet... Wagshal's is the best.

The weather has been unforgiving in Ohio and in the District. Check out the images from the ice storm on Sunday, March 1. Counting the days until we pick up Julia for spring break!
