Memorial Weekend with Puzzles

We had great weather in DC for the long weekend. WBG gave us Friday off, which was so nice. We worked on puzzles, played Bananagrams, took walks, and ate a lot of meat. Made a few batches of roasted chickpeas, and will add that into the weekly rotation. Exciting times! Actually, it was like most of our evenings and weekends, ha ha. The days do seem a bit blurred and Julia is cranking out the hours for her research paper and NASA. DC is set to enter phase 1 of opening tomorrow--same restrictions on no gatherings more than 10 and wearing masks in public. I'm not sure that anything will change for us.

Birthday Celebration and More of the Same

Missing my sister Laura and wish she could be here! It really is a mental pick-me-up to spend time with mom, Chad, and the Sarrges. First, it is somewhere to GO and out of the normal routine! Second, even though we cannot hug, seeing their faces (with no video freezing or talking over each other) is comforting. This past week, we stopped by (at a safe distance) for Chad's birthday celebration. They got Chad the BEST cake--what a riot. I also got to see mom's loft--so chic, quaint, and neat. I was so touched by the sign and that she has watched my nutrition video. (Love you, mom!) Other than that... we are doing more of the same: Julia's working on her paper with Anna, working for NASA, and rollerblading; Steven's working and rollerblading; I'm working and running. We're eating lots of meat too.

Excuse Me...NASA's Calling, Apartment, Skating

One day is the same as the next, day after day, and then suddenly--new things happen! Julia will now be getting paid by NASA for all her hard work. She was on the phone with a friend when her supervisor Jim from NASA was trying to reach her. That struck me so funny that she had to go because NASA was calling her. How many times do you get to say that? LOL

While the University of Minnesota has not declared their intentions for the fall, Julia's advisor has encouraged her to move to St. Paul for September. Done. Julia signed a lease for an adorable apartment (hardwood floors) near the campus and the director of her program.

Steven had a rollerblading buddy with him this week--Julia.

Birthday and Mothers from a Distance

May has turned out to be a bit more exciting than April, so far. While 45 states have begun the process of opening back up, the DC area has no immediate plans yet. The Blue Angels and Thunderbirds flew over DC to salute health care workers. We celebrated Ethan's 18th birthday--responsibly socially distanced. It was nice to be face-to-face with Meme and the Sarrge's. Then we had a double dose of vis-a-vis love with a mother's day visit. Jade might have been the most excited to see us.

Other things remain the same...church online, Julia making yummy coffees and lunches, Zoom video chats, and lots of good meat (brisket pic below).
