Weekend Fun

Julia is in the home stretch. Over the weekend, she picked up her friend Megan from the airport, who was returning from interviewing at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. Julia and Megan may rent a house together (one option is pictured below). There is a lot still up in the air on the plan for the fall, so we'll see. Julia went on a walk with Matt and kitty-cat Mark.

We went to Deep Creek Lake with the Sarrges and Austins. Fun time! Tony and Lisa are generous hosts, and it was especially nice to escape the humidity of DC.

July 4 Weekend

For Julia, this weekend was all about working nonstop, with a few FaceTime calls with us and Benjamin thrown in. Also shown are Julia's batch cooking of chicken thighs (yum!). In DC, we had a family dinner with the Westfalls—met Sarah (Noreen's cousin from Ireland). Noreen cooked up a storm! I didn't do well with my candid photography—eyes closed, unfortunately. Steven captured a nice picture of me and mom.

Park City

We had a fantastic trip to Park City, UT. The food, the weather, the hikes, and the company—everything was amazing! Despite Julia's hectic rush to finish her dissertation, she was able to come and relax a little. And kudos to mom for successfully hiking to Bloods Lake at 9,530 ft. elevation! The only thing we missed was Clarkson!

Heat Wave

Julia went camping with Hannah and Sam over the weekend. Just like DC, it was HOT. Julia's apartment hit nearly 90 degrees; she had to sleep with ice packs in her bed. :) She also went to a jazz jam with Jerry and friends.

We met at Kazan's for Juneteenth Day. It's always nice to see family, and the Turkish meals were delightful.

No Kings Rally

Julia and her friends celebrated Alejandro's birthday, she took care of Mark the cat, and attended the No Kings rally. Here in DC, the US Army celebrated its 250th anniversary with a massive military parade on Saturday. We hunkered down--there were tons of road closures (no protests that we saw). Steven and I celebrated our 24th anniversary. :)
