NYC and Pre-Holiday Events

Julia and Jerry headed to New York City last weekend--Jerry's first time in the Big Apple. They stayed at Laura & Clarkson's and squeezed in as many sites and friends as possible over three days.

We were invited to a pre-Hanukkah dinner. I made a pre-Christmas turkey in our new oven. Also pictured is mom with her bells choir. 'Tis the season!

AGU Conference & Jerry

This past week, Julia had a lot going on at the AGU Conference (Advancing Earth and Space Science). She had two poster session presentations and one competition pitch. Most exciting--she won 2nd place in the Flash Freeze competition! She won real money to fund her idea, a handheld cryozine. It brings art and science together in a pocket-sized takeaway (it folds up into a little magazine or can also be accessed digitally). Her University of Minnesota friend (and bandmate) Jerry spent a few days with us. Julia gave him the grand tour of as many highlights of DC (and her life) as they could fit in. Of course, we had to get Rocklands and take him to the US Capitol tree.

Near and Far

Julia took a long walk to the monuments. It is so nice to have her home and the cats love it too. Another bonus is that we get to FaceTime with Benjamin. His training is going well, and we can't wait to see him for Christmas.

Thanksgiving and More

Julia is HOME! We had a fun-filled, extra-packed Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family. It was awesome all around. My personal highlights were the turkey and ham, Peloton class (live and in person!!!!), &Juliet on Broadway, and time with Maggie and Vickie (US Botanical Gardens, National Capitol Tree, Willard Intercontinental Hotel). In between all the fun, we put an offer on a house, got accepted, had a full inspection (Saturday), and then rescinded the offer. :( House hunting to be continued...

Still Traveling Around

Julia went to Denver to work on evaluating their ice core samples. She was able to spend some time with Ethan, Bri, Elizabeth, and Chelsea. Then back to St. Paul for a couple of days; her close friends got engaged! Now, she heads to Washington, DC tonight.

Florida and Friendsgiving

Julia spent a week in Florida, then back to St.Paul for a couple of days to celebrate Friendsgiving. I cannot wait to have turkey! It looks like they had an impressive spread. Her Holton pal, Lia was in town and spent the night. Then Julia had to jet to Denver to work on her ice cores from Antarctica. She'll be there all week, before briefly stoppin back in St. Paul and then home to DC. Best part, she gets to sneak in a few meals with the Saunders girls (Elizabeth below).
